Supporting High Dependency Unit
Base Hospital – Akkaraipattu is situated in the midpoint of the Coastal region of Ampara district and serves the town areas, rural and remote villages; covering approximately 250,000 people.
Due to the high demand, the hospital is unable to meet the needs of its patients, particularly those that need intense treatment or observation through the High Dependency Unit (HDU). Although there is ample space, the HDU has only three beds and limited equipment and medication.
Identifying the great need, Islamic Relief supported the hospital through the supply of essential equipment and such as monitors and defibrillators and medication.
This project has supported the people that the hospital serves, with many patients benefiting from the improved HDU.
