Reaching out to more than 2500 Families during this Holy month of Ramadan
This year Ramadan is very difficult from previous years, the focus has been around helping those whose livelihoods have been affected by restricted movement as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, such as daily paid workers, The COVID-19 pandemic has had a wide-reaching social impact on families in Sri Lanka. The lockdown imposed to control the spread of the virus has impacted food supplies as daily wage workers face reduced opportunities. In response, Islamic Relief Sri Lanka implemented Ramadan food distribution to vulnerable families those who are also affected by the pandemic, this Ramadan in selected remote villages in Ampara District.
The food packs containing Rice , Milk Powder Cooking Oil, Sugar, Dares, and Dhal , Islamic Relief Sri Lanka Delivered the food packs on Beneficiaries door steps with the strong coordination and permission from authorities to implemented the project. Hand sanitizers and PPE were given to staff who are in the field for distribution.
In order to ensure the safety and security of the community and staff members, social distancing procedures were fully adhered to during the distribution. Beneficiaries said feeling safe at the distribution location due to proper arrangements made for their safety and security.
