Islamic Relief – Sri Lanka Implements “Development of Vulnerable Communities through Skill Enhancement Programme (DEVSEP)” in Ampara and Batticaloa Districts in Sri Lanka
This is a 12 months project funded by IR USA which intends to increase income of selected seventy unemployed youth through skill development and contributes tourism growth through provision of quality training in tourism value chain. It will be achieved through market analysis for the job opportunity in hotel and tourism sector for understanding the demand and opportunity; provide most relevant training through available training providers in eastern province; and employ the trained youths in hotels and tourism value chain enterprises. Also coaching and monitoring them to ensure their entitlement of employment benefits, and career excellence.
IR Sri Lanka has already implementing a similar model with the funding arrangement from Australian government aid program. The Kickoff Session of the project was held on 22nd of September, twenty-three participants are selected as a beneficiaries to the Cashier training program as a first batch of the DEVSEP program, and staff participated from local authority officials attended the kickoff session
