Handed over a water purification plant to Kurisuttakulam village
Vavuniya is one of the worst affected districts by chronic kidney disease (CKD). This is due to water contamination with the high proportion of minerals. CKD has become a serious issue in the affected villages without access to safe and clean water facilities.
Under the project Access to Clean Water and Sanitation in Rural Sri Lanka (ACWaSS)a water purification plant was recently built and handed over to the Kurisuttakulam village community in the Kanakarayankulam division, Vavuniya district. Through this plant, approx. 500 families will now have access to clean drinking water. High ranking government officials from Vavuniya district graced the inauguration ceremony which was held on 24th May2022.
